On the morning of March 12th, a summary review meeting of the Guangdong Province (Dongguan) Medical Team to Equatorial Guinea was held in Dongguan. This team was the 30th batch of medics sent to the West African country.
Setting off on July 5, 2019, the Dongguan Medical Team to Equatorial Guinea - consisting of 25 people, have worked tirelessly for the lives and health of the people in the nation until January 28th, 2021. Now, they have come back home and been reunited with their families.
The Dongguan Medical Team to Equatorial Guinea was awarded with Equatorial Guinea's Medal of the Nation, which is the highest state honor.
Before the team left, Equatorial Guinea's President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo signed a presidential decree on February 1st to award the team the Medal of the Nation, which is the highest state honor. In the history of providing assistance to Equatorial Guinea, the 30th batch of Guangdong Province (Dongguan) Medical Team to Equatorial Guinea was the 10th medical team to have received this honor.
On February 2nd, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo personally presented the medals to the four team members stationed in the Presidential Palace and wrote a letter of thanks to the others.

During the period of assistance in Equatorial Guinea, Dongguan medical team completed 19,839 outpatient checks, 2,438 surgeries, 22,965 ward rounds, and carried out 93 clinical training sessions for 420 people. The healthcare team sent to the Presidential Palace of Equatorial Guinea provided health care services for the leaders for 543 days and accompanied them on visits to 14 other countries.

The team also carried out the "Vision Plan" free clinic twice in Equatorial Guinea, with 30 free cataract surgeries completed. They completed more than 1,100 outpatient clinics for overseas personnel and employees of Chinese-funded enterprises. 300 medical examinations and over 300 health files were recorded. It also provided medical support for 18 large-scale group activities. Villages, Chinese-funded enterprises and universities approached their free clinics and health lectures 7 times befitting more than 1,000 people.

Chen Zhusheng, Deputy Director-General of the Health Commission of Guangdong Province, welcomed the return of the medical team.
He said, while completing routine medical tasks, the medical team actively participated in the anti-epidemic work of Equatorial Guinea, shared "Chinese experience" and "Guangdong practices" in epidemic prevention and control as well as medical treatment, and actively cooperated with our embassies abroad to help overseas Chinese to contain the epidemic. The team’s solid and effective work has won unanimous recognition and praise from the government, residents and institutions there.
