Sonny Weems posted 24 points for Guangdong, shooting 10 of 17 in the field, while his teammates Marshon Brooks and Hu Mingxuan contributed 20 points apiece. Dezmine Wells of Jiangsu notched a game-high 34 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Wells led Jiangsu with consecutive tough layups, trying to gain an advantage in the early minutes, but Guangdong was more balanced on the offensive end and successfully controlled the pace, prevailing 55-48 at halftime.
Guangdong battered their opponents with an 8-0 run in the third quarter as Weems scored three jump shots, helping his team lead 88-73 into the last period, during which Hu's two 3-pointers turned the game into a rout.
But Guangdong head coach Du Feng seemed unsatisfied with the victory. "We could have done better. Our players were not so focused at the beginning, especially on the defensive end," he said at the post-game press conference.
