The 2020 Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC) was held in the city from December 14th to 17th. This year, a total of 3,227 documentary films, including 2,644 oversea entries, from 126 countries and regions have registered for the festival’s major event Golden Kapok Awards Competition. The Golden Kapok Screening, another main event of GZDOC, screened 20 well-chosen documentary films including "Public Housing" by renowned American documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman who has a Lifetime Achievement Oscar in cinemas and cultural spaces in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan.
