Over 10,000 people join crayfish banquet in E China's Jiangsu

A massive crayfish banquet was held in Xuyi county, Huai'an, east China's Jiangsu Province, on the evening of June 13. The event saw approximately 40 tons of crayfish consumed by over 10,000 attendees.

As a county renowned for its crayfish, a quarter of Xuyi's population is engaged in crayfish-related industries, which achieved an output value of 20.2 billion yuan ($2.82 billion) in 2022.

In recent years, the county has further enhanced its reputation by making advancements in the genetics and breeding of crayfish, improving their quantity and quality, and establishing a standardized system.
